BEAT SABER RULESETS

 

 Division 1 Competition Ruleset:

  1. The CVRE Division 1 Competition is a school-based solo player tournament, played on the beat saber game mode.

    • Each match will be a 1v1

  2. There will be 4 double-elimination tournaments.

  3. The tournaments will be scheduled once a month for the months of September, October, November, and December.

  4. Points in the first 3 tournaments will be given by placement:

    • 0 points for getting out in LR1

    • 1 point for getting out in LR2

    • 2 points for getting out in LR3

    • 3 points for getting out in LR4

    • 4 points for getting out in LR5

    • 5 points for third place

    • 7 points for second place

    • 9 points for first place

  5. The seeding for the grand finals will be determined by points gained in the other tournaments.

  6. The tournament bracket and seeding for the first September tournament will be decided by qualifiers, which will consist of three songs.

    • Every player from every school must play these qualifier songs

    • The 16 highest-scoring individuals from the qualifiers will be placed into Division I and will not be allowed to participate in the division II team tournament

  7. After the first September tournament seeding for next tournaments will be determined by points gained by players in tournament with qualifier score serving as a tiebreaker.

  8. Prizes will be given to the top 3 in the final December tournament: both players in the grand finals of the tournament, and the player in loser’s finals.

    • Prizes are TBD

    • There will also be an announced but un-prized school winner which will be the school with the most points at the end of the season

  9. Each solo player will be representing their school but will otherwise be independent.

  10. All maps are to be played on NO FAIL.

  11. The map pool will be decided and released 1 week in advance to a tournament.

  12. If a map ends in a draw it will be nullified.

  13. If a player somehow disconnects or exits the song it will be considered as a score of 0.

  14. If a player pauses, they have ~2-3 seconds to immediately unpause and continue before their score is considered a 0.

    • Whether or not the pause is deemed to be unintentional and the unpause prompt enough will be left up to the coordinator's discretion

  15. Players get the opportunity for 1 replay every match in case of tracking issues or lag.

    • Replays will be allowed based on the match coordinator's discretion

  16. If a player plays the wrong map it will be considered as a score of 0.

  17. Mod List (www.tinyurl.com/cvremods):

    • Not having the required mods can result in penalties

    • In addition, having mods not on the required or optional list can result in penalties

    • Please use common sense when choosing custom options - picking anything that obscures important info or is otherwise excessive can result in penalties

    • If you are unsure about whether something can be deemed excessive communicate with the admins beforehand

  18. Any settings that are able to be changed through the game are allowed (ex. Room adjust, static lights, reduced debris, advanced hud, etc.).

  19. Best of 3’s will be run as follows:

    • There will be 5 maps total in the pool allowing for 1 ban and 1 pick each

    • The higher seed will ban

    • The lower seed will ban

    • The lower seed will pick

    • The higher seed will pick

    • The remaining map will be the tiebreaker

  20. Best of 5’s will be run as follows:

    • There will be 7 maps total in the pool allowing for 1 ban and 2 picks each

    • The higher seed will ban

    • The lower seed will ban

    • The lower seed will pick

    • The higher seed will pick

    • The higher seed will pick

    • The lower seed will pick

    • The remaining map will be the tiebreaker

  21. Best of 7’s will be run as follows:

    • There will be 9 maps total in the pool allowing for 1 ban and 3 picks each

    • The higher seed will ban

    • The lower seed will ban

    • The lower seed will pick

    • The higher seed will pick

    • The higher seed will pick

    • The lower seed will pick

    • The lower seed will pick

    • The higher seed will pick

    • The remaining map will be the tiebreaker

  22. Best of 9’s will be run as follows:

    • There will be 11 maps total in the pool allowing for 1 ban and 4 picks each

    • The higher seed will ban

    • The lower seed will ban

    • The lower seed will pick

    • The higher seed will pick

    • The higher seed will pick

    • The lower seed will pick

    • The lower seed will pick

    • The higher seed will pick

    • The higher seed will pick

    • The lower seed will pick

    • The remaining map will be the tiebreaker

  23. Each player must stream the entire match

Pre-Match Requirements:

  1. Make sure you have all required mods and no extra mods other than those listed in the mod list.

  2. Make sure you have all maps in the map pool downloaded or accessible without delay.

    • We will likely provide a playlist of the map pool

  3. Make sure your stream is ready to go

    • Stream must capture game audio and ABSOLUTELY NO MIC AUDIO

      • Audio Output Capture from headset headphones

    • Stream must capture game footage

      • Main screen must be first person view however both bottom corners are available for small non intrusive elements to personalize your stream

    • Stream must have HTTP Overlay

  4. Each player along with a coordinator must join a discord call to discuss map choices.

  5. Lastly, and most obviously, be ready to play.

 

During Match Instructions:

  1. Map selections will be done before a match is played.

  2. After a map is played the players must show their score on stream for enough time to allow the coordinator to take down the scores.

 

Post Match Instructions:

  1. After the match is over you will be told by either the admin or the casters to end your stream.

  2. Celebrate! Or practice more so you can win your next match! Or cry if you got eliminated.
