Competition Ruleset:
-
The CVRE Competition is a school-based tournament, centered around the Beat Saber game
-
Each match will be a 1v1 for Division 1
-
The higher score wins the map
-
-
Each match will be a 2v2 for Division 2
-
Scores of each player will be summed and the higher summed score wins the map
-
-
-
The match consistents of 2 stages:
-
A group stage
-
The top X teams/players from each group advance to a single elimination finals tournament
-
-
The tournament bracket and seeding for the tournament will be decided by qualifiers
-
Qualifiers will consist of three maps played on no-fail over the course of a week with scores on all three maps added together
-
The 16 highest-scoring individuals from the qualifiers will be placed into Division I and will not be allowed to compete in Division II
-
Smurfing (intentionally going for lower scores so that a player gets placed in Division II instead of Division I) will be dealt with on a case by case basis by the admins/staff
-
Very obvious smurfing will be dealt with a ban on the player for some number of tournaments and in some cases on the entire team/school
-
-
-
For Division 1 each solo player will be representing their school but will otherwise be independent
-
For Division 2 each team will be representing their school but will otherwise be independent
-
Minimum of 3 players per team
-
Maximum of 5 players per team
-
-
The map pool will be decided and released in advance to a tournament
-
If a map ends in a draw it will be replayed
-
Instances where a player's score will be considered a 0
-
If a player somehow disconnects, fails, or exits the song it will be considered as a score of 0
-
If a player plays the wrong map or difficulty it will be considered as a score of 0
-
If a player pauses they have 1-2 seconds to immediately unpause and continue before their score is considered a 0.
-
Whether or not the pause is deemed to be unintentional and the unpause prompt enough will be left up to the coordinator's discretion
-
-
If they actually score a 0
-
-
Players get the opportunity for 1 replay every match
-
The way a replay works is that you may call it immediately after a song has been played if you would like to retry the song. This used to be called a tracking reset for players who had tracking issues during the song but has now been adapted to be used for any reason (including "I lost but I think I can do better")
